Excavation and earthwork Tracked excavator digging foundations on a sloped plot with olive trees and sea view in Corfu

We offer excavation and earthworks services across Corfu. Preparing the plot for everything that follows: clearing, excavation for foundations, basements and pools, levelling of terraces, trenches for water, power and drainage, the access track for the machines and trucks. The excavation crews we work with are on Corfu every day and know its ground, from the red clay of the north to the hard limestone of the north east coast.

What Our Excavation  and Machinery Hire Includes

  • Site Preparation and Land Cleaning: Cleaning vegetation, trees and old structures
  • Foundations and basements: Precise excavation for residential villas, basements and swimming pools.
  • Terracing and Land Levelling: Leveling sloped plots and constructing stepped terraces for hillside properties
  • Trenching and Utility lines: Excavating clean trenches for water pipes, electrical cabling, drainage and septic systems
  • Access Roads and Driveways: Cutting and grading access tracks for construction vehicles and private driveways

How The Process Works

With the right machine and a plan. Limestone is broken with a hydraulic breaker, not blasted. Olive trees that stay are fenced and their roots protected; trees that must go are moved or replanted where the owner wants them. On steep lanes we bring smaller machines and shuttle the material with mini dumpers instead of waiting for a lorry that cannot turn.

  • Step 1: Initial Consultation and Site Reviw: Reach out to us with your project location and specific requirements. We discuss your needs, assess the plot layout, and recommend the right machinery for the terrain.
  • Step 2: Site Inspection & Transparent Quote We inspect the access routes and ground conditions (rock density, slope, soil composition) to provide a clear, tailored project estimate with zero hidden costs.
  • Step 3: Equipment Deployment & Execution Our heavy equipment arrives on site operated by an experienced, licensed driver. We carry out all digging, clearing, or leveling safely and efficiently according to your specifications.
  • Step 4: Site Cleanup & Handover Once the earthworks are complete, we tidy up the site, ensure proper slope stability and access, and hand the plot back ready for your next project stage.

What happens with the excavated soil and rock?

As much as possible stays on the plot: good soil for the garden, rock for the dry stone walls and the base of the drive. The rest is taken to a licensed site and the transport is shown as a separate line in the quote, so you can see how much the ground conditions cost.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need a permit to excavate?

Yes. Excavation is part of the building permit and starts only after all Greek permits and regulations are ready,  issued and the engineer has marked the levels. For a pool next to an existing house a separate small permit is usually needed; the engineer prepares it.

How long does the excavation take?

For a typical villa plot one to three weeks, depending on the amount of rock and the retaining work. The soil report and the first days on site show how much rock there really is.

Can you only do the earthworks for my own contractor?

Yes. We quote the excavation, the retaining works and the trenches on their own and hand over a surveyed platform to your builder.
