Why does the concrete structures and foundations matter so much on a Greek island?
Because Corfu is in an earthquake zone and because most plots slope, the Greek structural code asks for precision and absolute compliance. At Ionian Crest Construction, we ensure your building stands safely on solid ground through:
- Seismic Compliance: Strict adherence to Greek anti-seismic building regulations.
- Experienced Crews: Specialized teams for steel reinforcement and precision formwork.
- Engineering Supervision: Direct oversight by professional engineers during every concrete pour.
- Turnkey Solutions: From deep excavations and retaining walls to concrete frames and swimming pool shells.
What do we build in reinforced concrete?
- strip and raft foundations, piles where the ground needs them
- columns, beams and slabs for houses, villas and small hotels
- basements and retaining walls with external waterproofing and drainage
- pool shells, including infinity edges and overflow channels
- concrete staircases, balconies and pergola beams
- repairs and strengthening of old concrete in renovations
How is the quality checked?
Every pour uses concrete from a certified plant with the strength class written in the study, and test cubes are taken when the engineer asks for them. Reinforcement is checked against the drawings before the formwork is closed, and the owner receives photos of the steel before every pour, which is also useful later, for example when a wall has to be drilled.
Frequently asked questions
Can you build the frame for a design by my own architect?
Yes. We work from your architect's drawings and your engineer's structural study, or we arrange the structural study with a licensed engineer we work with.
How long does the concrete frame of a villa take?
For a two-storey villa with a basement usually two to four months, including curing times between the floors.
Do you also do the brickwork and insulation?
Yes. After the frame the same team builds the infill walls, the thermal insulation and the roof, so there is no gap between structure and envelope.
